We met trung at the bus station in saigon. He tried to get our ticket to see which bus we were going to take, to get the same one. Of course it was to tell us that he has a homestay in can tho. Trung looked nice and he told us the price of 130.000 dong per night (which is actually a lot more expensive...). Anyway, the guest house is very nice, good location quiet in front of the mekong, very good meals cooked by his very friendly mother. all the family is friendly. Trung told us about some tours to see the floated market. That tour was nice, even if he promised us 4 5h boat and we did only 2,5... and it is more expensive than by agency but it worth it. The huge mistake we did was to accept the tour until ben tre with them... we were going to ben tre by 4 hours motorbike at the midday time... by friend had a big blow hot and became very very sick after that. We arrived at a big place called "homestay" but it is a huge restaurant very crowded, in front of our room is a parking and the room is so, so dirty (bathroom and toilet with used toilet paper on the floor of the shower) and very noisy. The meals are good and the owner very very nice and fortunately he took care of my friend very sick, with plenty of attention. But the tour stole us.. 2,5 hours of boat (promised 4 5 again), coconut factory closed, no one spoke english for us so nobody explain us something. He promised us to see beautiful little islands... nothing !!!!! We had a little tour in a small boat between the coconut trees and the women asked us the whole way some money.. and we did'nt get the bike tour as with the agencies (my brother did..)|To finish that.. we booked a bus with them to go to mui ne.. and the bus did'nt drop us off to muy ne at all !!!!! We had to take motorbike to get over there...|125 euros / personnes for that... (4 nights, 4 days everything included except drinks even not coffee during breakfast).||My advice.. you can go in this homestay and do the floated market with them but AVOID to follow them until Ben Tre.. even if, again, the owner in Ben tre is very very kind.

I recommend this authentic experience to anyone considering a Vietnamese homestay - in spite of a few cons :-)|Arrived at this nice little homestay located right next to a small river of the Mekong. There are nine rooms with a bed, mosquito nets, electricity, and private bathroom (cold water but good pressure). |The absolute pro of this stay was the possibility to go on Minh’s very well organized boat trip to the floating markets and a noodle factory (in addition to a generally good condition of the homestay itself). We were away from 4-10 AM, and the trip was amazing. Our guide Ngoc told so many interesting things. |Didn’t have the homestay’s breakfast, but food for dinner is plentiful mainly based on fish and different kinds of rice/noodle dishes. |I must warn everyone that the daily routine at this place begins extremely early, so one shouldn’t come here for a romantic getaway or relaxing experience. Work starts around 3 AM, and karaoke from a neighbor across the river also begins extremely early - around 6 AM. I think the noice of this place is a clear CON, and it’s a shame for Minh’s otherwise lovely homestay. However, with proper mental preparation for this daily routine,|I think this is a MUST DO while in southern Vietnam!

Booked a tour of Cai Rang which included 1 night at the homestay. The journey by boat was a great experience, with dozens of bats following the boat along the river. The staff speak little English but are very welcoming and a younger staff member is available who speaks fluently. The rooms are very comfortable with all basic needs, although the showers have no water pressure they still function enough with warm water. Dinner was huge and the food was enjoyable with a selection of cheap drinks. A wonderful experience and after spending many nights in hotels a welcome change giving you a more traditional time.

We wanted to stay the Nguyen Shack but they were full so we booked here instead and were pleasantly surprised. We were starving when we arrived and a lovely woman made us a bowl of Pho, it was the best soup in all our time in Vietnam, sitting by the river in very peaceful grounds. We spoke with Mr Minh who organised the floating markets for us. We had to get up by 4am and hopped into a small boat with him and the captain. We floated in darkness for an hour or so, stopping for a coffee along the way in the boat. Wonderful!!||The markets were amazing to see. Mr Minh took us to a vantage point off the river for a few minutes so we got a better view of all the boats converging together. He bought us these delicious snacks and a handful of small sweet bananas. We then went on the small boat to a point where we think all the tours meet and had a pho noodle soup. Sensational to be a part of the markets and involved in them at the same time. We were home by ten ish. Think we paid $55 for two for this tour. Well worth it.||Mr Minh's English is pretty good. The breakfast with eggs and a lovely baguette set us up for the next day ahead. The dinner the night before was massive, the food just kept coming and was very tasty. Lovely setting. The hammocks a great place to chill.

I stayed here as part of a 2-day Mekong Delta tour from Saigon. We arrived late at night and were taken to the property by boat. It was about 30 minutes and very peaceful.||||PRO's||||- Dinner was fantastic with quite a few options to choose from. ||- Location on the river was very pretty and relaxing - good hammocks to relax in. ||- Rooms nice enough for a basic guesthouses - towels, nets and hot water. ||- The older woman (I assume the mother of the owner) was very, very sweet although I couldn't understand her Vietnamese commentary on the World Cup.||||CONS||- Other staff were not too friendly. There was no communication from staff, just plates dropped off and they left yet I noticed they were very friendly with another big group that was staying there (independently I assume). ||- Woman overcharged me for a drink. She charged me 10000 D more than the price on the list (which I couldn't see in the dark until the following morning...). The value is negligible but the dishonesty wasn't appreciated. ||- We were told to be ready at 7 am to get on a boat to re-join our tour further down the river. At 7:25 we were still standing there waiting with no communication. We were then told we would take a taxi as it was "too late" - when I expressed disappointment the reason changed to the "water is too low", yet we had stood there for 30 minutes watching the boatman prepare the boat and he was just filling it with fuel ... unsure what happened. ||||OVERALL||A lovely location for some relaxation but don't expect a homestay environment as this is more of a rustic, local guesthouse with meals included. If staff were friendlier to all guests this guesthouse would be fantastic.
